GiliSoft Audio Recorder is a program that will allow you to record any sound that goes through your sound card. So you will be able to save any sound that enters from your microphone, line-in, streaming audio, music played through any player or the sound from a game into MP3 files on your hard disk.
The interface is pretty simple. You will need to select the source you want to capture the incoming sound from and adjust the volume to the desired level. You can monitor the sound input level by watching the level indicators for the left and right channel in the interface. Then, you can define the folder where the program will save the output MP3 file to, or leave it as it is by default. When you click on the "Record" button, the program will begin the recording job, which can be stopped by clicking on the "Stop" button. You will be able to view and play the recorded MP3 file by clicking on the "View" button. The program will record MP3 files of 128 Kbps, stereo. The recording time will be only limited by the available space in your hard disk.
Some cheap sound cards will not let you record streaming media, or the sound being played by a media player in Windows 7. This is not a problem in the program itself, it is an issue with the drivers for those cards and Windows 7.
